March Collection

CHIKS [Children’s Homes in Kerala State, India], which is a small UK based charity that rescues and  helps poor children – often from forest tribal areas as well as from streets and railway stations – and  aims to give them total care, education and a future freed from a cycle of family deprivation. The charity has been doing this since the mid-1990’s and today over 200 children are enjoying life in one of its 3 homes. CHIKS wants to give all these children not only a far happier childhood, but also the promise of a fulfilling future too. A small but dedicated team work tirelessly to make this happen and the help and support of others is greatly valued.

Monday, March 12 th 10.15 at Poole Meeting House. We have finished our study of Elizabeth Fry & have so enjoyed the book, While It Is Yet Day, that we recommend Friends borrow it from the library.  It is an easy read & interesting & inspiring.  Our next early Quaker is likely to be American, possibly Benjamin Lay, Quaker dwarf & first revolutionary abolitionist.
